Why is this program important? The majority of people living in Washington support strong environmental protection in the state. They are aware, well-informed and identify clean air and water, transportation, sprawl, and energy as their primary environmental concerns. However, the concerns of this environmental majority are often not reflected in the actions of their elected officials. Many officials publicly espouse conservation values, yet there have not been significant policy gains for the conservation community. In fact, it is often a struggle to keep hard-won protections in place. That's why the environmental community is hosting these events with your legislators. You’ll have the opportunity to find out where your representatives stand on environmental issues and to build new relationships. You’ll make sure your legislators know that voters are paying attention to their actions. Join us. -------------------- This alert is part of a series of action alerts from Priorities for a Healthy Washington, a combined effort of: 1000 Friends of Washington American Rivers Audubon Washington Climate Solutions EnviroCitizen Northwest Energy Coalition People for Puget Sound Sierra Club The Nature Conservancy Transportation Choices Coalition Washington Conservation Voters Washington Environmental Council WEAVE Washington Toxics Coalition |
